Welcome to the

'insanity' roleplay forum

Now we know what you're thinking... 'insanity' roleplay?
Isn't roleplay supposed to be about fantasy? Well sort of yes ~ except when it isn't strictly fantasy...
Hmmm ~ let's take another look at that neat little header we just nicked from the top of the page again shall we...?

Now - really look at that nifty banner and read those rather sexy little quotes drifting in and out of those dreamy bubble planetoids and think about where they come from. Go on - humour us for a bit! Wink
It's all in the genre you see and some of that's not strictly fantasy is it? So what have we got in there then?

Well let's pull it down from the top... LOL
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit ~ JRR Tolkien ~ children's fantasy?

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... ~ Star Wars 4 ~ 'classic' sci-fi?

It's alive! ~ Frankenstein ~ gothic horror

It is a truth, universally acknowledged that a single man... ~ Jane Austen ~ classic lit?

I'll be back! ~ Terminator franchise ~ 'apocalytic'? sci-fi

vodka martini - shaken not stirred ~ James Bond franchise ~ action thriller?

You'll believe a man can fly! ~ Superman ~ superhero thriller?

Sources included in original context, the genres for those quotes work, right? More or less anyway! But is The Hobbit just for kids? Doesn't Star Wars get a little oriental/ninja in places - or even wild western in tone here and there? Of course Pride and Prejudice is classic literature, but wasn't that ITV production of 'Lost in Austen' wonderful in it's juxtaposition of picking Elizabeth Bennet out of Regency Meryton and swapping her with a 21st Cent Amanda Price with consequent chaos and comical mishaps a clever bit of time portal magic that actually worked!? How about The Terminator as a medieval cyber-paladin or FBI witness-protection muscle? James Bond as - well yes, stereotypes get typecast too obviously, but they've parodied just about everything there is to parody in 20 plus movies, so lets choose the easiest and say swashbuckling pirate-prince? Evil Smile As for Superman (or Batman or The Incredible Hulk if you like) well there've been so many 'takes' on him you don't need us to list them for you do you? Wink

So - which Frankenstein do you want to play with (see! You thought we'd forgotten about him didn't you!) Is it Kenneth's Brannagh's 18th Century avant garde scientist, Gene Wilder's slightly apologetic neurotic baritone or Herman Munster style? Or maybe you have ideas of your own on the key to the good Doctor? The DreamGalaxies is certainly all about fantasy, but they're mostly about your own imagination and your interpretation of your favourite fandoms, to play with your way, to the point where there's no canon as such, just where you want to take it next, anyhow you want to take it Smile

So yes - is could get a teensy weensy bit insane in here as you go mad and maybe decide that perhaps Cinderella's ugly sisters weren't actually so bad or at least better looking maybe? No? How about what might happen if you took Robin Hood from 1980s TV Robin of Sherwood (Michael Praed or Jason  Connery) and put him with Friar Tuck - the badger from the Disney version? And the Alan Rickman persona for the Sheriff of Nottingham from Prince of Thieves - now wouldn't that be interesting to try out? LOL Or.... Dracula (Christopher Lee) is best man at King Arthur's (Richard Harris in Camelot) 2nd wedding to Xena Warrior Princess and they drive off on honeymoon in Kitt (the car in Knight Rider? Tongue).

You get the picture now? LOL Thought you might! Now all you have to do is decide who, what, where, when and how to play it, right? OK... Wink

This is how it works -
