Some of you might have noticed that there's been some slight changes to the site so, on the day the UK government revealed that Cornwall is to have independent ethnic status equal to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, I'm delighted to announce that the borders between DreamWorlds, the forums and DreamWorlds Publishing, the website and blogging area are now officially removed!
stars strewn

The sites will retain their individual visual IDs and address but we are now interchangeable from the top menu on each and every page of the board and the publishing area so everyone can come and go (or not) as they please! Clap

Lost in the move will be the old 'jump' menu at the top of the screen as it's now outlived it's usefulness and leaves us with a slightly sleeker, less cluttered top menu area. We've also retired the old Papyrus typeface for much the same reason and replaced it with a clean and classic seriffed font (Baskerville Old for all you Sherlock fans Wink) to reflect our literary and publishing values of clarity in harmony with tradition.

The DreamWorlds forums are still undergoing a 'rationalisation' process which is currently most noticeable in the Welcome forums but will move to other areas to merge or shelve (temporarily perhaps) topics and categories that are underused or dormant - these will still be accessible in the archive forum currently used for the old LotRDreams website so don't worry about losing previous work. Smile
If we ever get an influx of new members and enthusiasm then we can revive archived material as appropriate and your views can be aired and/or discussed in the PR & Admin Helpdesk area - start a thread if there isn't one there that suits Wink

Finally my thanks to Fuin Elda for her suggestions and observations which were instrumental in my finally getting off my bum and finding the broomstick and dusters - I'd more or less forgotten we had them! what?

Will keep you updated in here of any further changes as they occur, hopefully over the next month now my schedule's calmed a little bit - do feel free to leave any queries, comments etc in the meantime

Nope - everyone's a little surprised by it but the more cynical amongst us have noticed it means that Kernow can get more EU money so it suits Whitehall to slash their social support Tongue

I doubt they'll be raising a barrier over the Tamar for a good while yet LOL

Well, I have to tell you I was sorry I visited the site at all, since it screwed up my computer which dragged slower than slow for the rest of the day - I didn't realise that was what the problem was until shutting down, when I found my desktop was a wavy mass of Cornish flags instead of Ted Naismith's picture of Rivendell!  Also the PC would not close and I had to switch off at the wall.  When I got back in I was able to restore the proper desktop and then ran Malwarebytes which found 2 bugs though I couldn't see how or if they related to the flagsite.  Weird!

Well it's all over and I have five names and addresses of winners!  None of my friends and family I fear, but at least that proves it's a truly random selection!  Nearly 500 people entered which is great; so you only had a 1/10 chance.  Now to get posting in snail mail....

Now don't tell me you never Google yourself, because I won't believe you!  For one thing, if you have any creative work you want to promote, it pays to keep an eye on how it's doing out in the big wide world/universe/multiverse.  I've just discovered something new on Google Scholar, well new to me - 'My Library' - a place to locate all articles and citations relating to your work.  Here's my link to show what it looks like.

You can also keep a page of works you have cited.

I had no idea I was being mentioned/referred to/cited by anyone and just drifted onto this casually.  Why not have a go yourself.

Not for me either!  Try this one

https://scholar.google.co.uk/scholar?scilib=1&hl=en&as_sdt=0,5

But you will not find the texts there, the texts of most of my works are on

https://independent.academia.edu/SueBridgwater

the Google Scholar pages are just for references and citations.  I shall check out your link with pleasure!

Saranna, have fun with reading. I have to update again, but first work on getting back my laptop up and running again. My harddrive gave it up, but I retrieved an update of my last data and I got a spare HD of 500GB. So I have something to do still. But my laptop is running fine so far, so I will see how I can keep my Vista computer alive and well for the future.

Yes, I have been very busy, today with installing lots of updates. Curiously it works all a bit different than on the other harddisk and it's still the same version. But the harddisk is gladly accepted. Smile

Yes, pity really. If nothing changed we could use systems forever, because technically that is possible. All webpages just in HTML worked greatly years ago. Even this website runs smoothly still in Internet Explorer 7, curiously enough. Perhaps I sound old, but I loved the days of internet the most between 1998 and the early 2000 years. Now it's half a mess to use. I wonder what it will be in about 25 years....  cat juggler
